These two types of cancers are some of the leading causes of deaths in women. The importance of education
on what these types of cancers are, what they can do, and how to help prevent them is something
that should be high on everyone's list.

Sunglass LA has been graced with an amazing opportunity to partner up with a foundation who aids in
education and prevention for both types of cancers.

Lynne Cohen was an energetic Southern California mom who was diagnosed with metastasized ovarian cancer after a mass was
found on one of her ovaries. Lynne fought the cancer and spent every spare moment researching for answers, resources,
and treatments. She discovered that there were few answers and options, and that there was a lack of funding for
researching early detection and prevention of ovarian caner. Lynne battled the cancer for 5 years, but eventually
lost her battle in 1998.

After Lynne's death, her children created the Lynne Cohen Foundation. The foundation was created to "exemplify the life force
and passion of its namesake".
In order for the foundation to help save lives, it focuses on early detection, prevention, and
community. If the ovarian cancer was caught at Stage 1, Lynne's survival rate would have been 94% higher.

The BRCA1 and BRCA2 gene mutations both come with increased risks for ovarian and breast cancer. Due to this link
between the two, the foundation focuses of the early detection and prevention for both ovarian and breast cancer.

September and October are both dedicated to ovarian cancer (September) and breast cancer (October). Sunglass LA has
teamed up with this amazing foundation to help raise awareness for women's cancer. Not only is this partnership to
help raise awareness, but Sunglass LA is dedicating a sunglass collection on the website that will give a portion of
the purchases to the Lynne Cohen Foundation. Each product in the collection ranges from $10-$20. 70% will cover
cost, labor and shipping, and 30% will be donated to the Lynne Cohen Foundation at the end of the campaign.

Being able to help raise awareness for women's cancer means so much to Sunglass LA. This is beyond a campaign.
It's a chance to talk and grow with the community around us, providing a pathway for people to help raise
awareness for such an important subject.

Sunday October 1st is Lynne Cohen Foundation's Kickin' Cancer 5k run in Los Angeles. Sunglass LA will be there, so
stay tuned for more information about the run. We would love to see each and every one of you there!

I always strived to be a best friend, no matter how great or how crummy my day was.
When I look back, what matters most is that I was there for the people I loved
